At the heart of every business are KPIs. These numbers tell us, quickly, how the company is doing. We know if we’re on target or if we’re behind and need to make some changes. They are the quantitative North Star for all efforts.
This is how you measure progress to your vision and hold each other accountable.
Not all metrics are KPIs. Figure out what numbers you want to track and evaluate those numbers separately from your key performance indicators to get a full picture.
You know you’re using your marketing KPIs right when leadership meetings focus on the KPIs first and foremost. All tactics should ladder up to these KPIs as the primary goal.
Your marketing KPIs might be different from your overall business KPIs and that’s totally fine. The important piece is that you and leadership agree on what metrics you and your marketing team are going to be held accountable for.
