What it Matters

You want to tie your product offerings to your vision and obviously to your target markets. Are you selling the right products? Are you talking about the products the right way? This exercise helps you answer those questions and get clarity on what you sell.

What it Is

Recommend starting by reading The Pumpkin Plan, but you can start here at any time. The book provides more context. In short, this is a way to interview prospects or existing customers to make sure your products and services are actually helping them with their pain points.

How to Use Your Questionnaire

Fill out this template for each of your interviewees. The goal is to figure out their pain points so you can adjust your product/service as well as niche down even further. You want to find common pain points that you can solve for them.

You will use your findings to adjust your product and your messaging.

The Short Version

If this seems overwhelming, try emailing your clients or customers from the past 12 months and ask them one question: “Why did you choose to buy from us?” It’s that simple. Look at the responses and look at the language they use to describe why they chose you. You might be surprised!
